LECTURES
Week 01:
During this class, we got a briefing about our tasks for this semester so that we could understand how each task is linked to one another. We also got some notes regarding some of the terms, such as conversion, bounce-rate and some of the best analytics to study.
Week 02:
For this lecture, Mr Asrizal taught us about quantitative data (based on numerical data) & qualitative data (based on non-numerical data) and the four types of analytics (Descriptive, Diagnostic, Predictive & Prescriptive).
Week 09:
During this week, we were able to learn about the 4Cs (Perspectives, important for those in charge of the account): Category (What experience to enable [very little logic, emotion, feeling]), Consumers (Who are my consumers, advocates & influences), Culture (Where is the world going, what is the cultural tension), Company (where do I come from, what are the ambitions).
INSTRUCTIONS
Week 01:
- Grouped with Adeline, Cecilia & Jacklyn after Mr Asrizal urged us all to enter our groups. During the class, we looked for and suggested potential brands we would be interested in working with. After we chose a few, Adeline sent them the proposal message.
- We had our first meeting on Sunday (09/04/2023) to discuss our parts for Task 01 in order to not delay our progress.
Week 02:
- Analysed Google Analytics according to the part I was given, Monetisation. Below is the shared group document we used to compile our initial data.
- Adeline sent more proposals to different brands as we were previously ignored by our first initial batch of potential brands. Luckily, we were able to get a reply from Lavent!
- During this week, we also started our slides for Task 01.
Week 03:
- We had a meeting on Thursday (20/04/2023) to discuss contents and plans for Lavent as well as finalise the slides.
- After the meeting, we also planned what we each needed to do for our roles for every two weeks.
Week 04:
- During this week, we obtained a clearer view of what Lavent expected from us and some of the guidelines they have for their brand's consistency.
- We edited and refined our ideas to fit the requirements set by Lavent on the Content Planning Google Sheet before we sent it to Lavent. They approved the ideas!
- We had another meeting on Sunday (30/04/2023) to discuss content flow.
Week 05:
- I had started prepping for the first post to go up. With this, I researched for Lavent's ingredients and their benefits. I created a carousel to feature the ingredients while also making the imagery flow together so it felt like a connective post what was more smooth to view. Below was the post (Post 01) I created in the end.
- We had a meeting with Lavent's representative, Ms Yasmin, on Saturday (06/05/2023). For this meeting, we prepared questions to ask her as well as two posts to get her approval. During the meeting, I helped take notes for the group.
Week 06:
- During this week, our first four posts went up. Adeline was in charge of posting.
- On Wednesday (10/05/2023), we had a meeting regarding how to replace and prepare to alter content according to the restrictions (Example: We had product receiving delays, Lavent wanted to promote other products, etc).
- We also established the content's logo placement as per Mr Asrizal's feedback.
Week 07:
- We received the products Lavent had sent on Tuesday (16/05/2023)! This allowed us to expand on more ideas and start making videos.
- For this week, I created Post 06 which was a gif for Lavent's audience to screenshot and engage with the account.
Week 08:
- Starting this week, I was in charge of posting and ensuring the feed was consistent in looks.
- Lavent provided us new requests for the posts, such as to promote their Zalora platform as well as get an influencer collaboration.
- This week, I curated a quote post (Post 09) that would help uplift people.
Week 09:
- We had a quick meeting on Tuesday (30/05/2023) after one of our classes to discuss about the influencer collaboration (during this meeting, we suggested to each other some influencers that would suit Lavent's brand) as well as adjusted the calendar to accomodate the Zalora post and the influencer post.
- As this week had Hari Kaamatan, I was tasked to work on the post (Post 13). Below was the final selection.
- On Thursday, we received more details from Lavent that would affect our current posts. Thus, we had another meeting on Saturday (03/06/2023) to discuss the best way to move forward with the posts.
Week 10:
- For the next two weeks, I was in charge of copywriting to generate the captions for each post.
- During this week, we also got a reply from Aryna (@that.aryna) who agreed to help us with our collaboration request from Lavent!
- For this week's post (Post 17), I was in charge of the video for ASMR. I filmed the video, with a microphone, but I failed to realise how hard it is to film one without proper stand to hold my microphone. Thus, to fix this, I also utilised sound effects that I got from Freesound. For this video, I wanted to try out a technique I've seen other content creators use, the looping video, where the start and end of the video flowed nicely to create a loop.
- To prepare for next week, I also took some photos of the Coffee Scrub's Texture while I still had the Coffee Scrub with me.
Week 11:
- Below is my post for Week 11 (Post 22).
- On Sunday, Adeline and I helped Jacklyn for our video shoot with Aryna. We started at 10am and ended about 11:30. Our process was fairly quick as Jacklyn had planned out the video with detail.
Week 12:
- For this week, I was in charge of analysis, so I looked over the stats during this week.
- For my last post (Post 24), below was my final:
Week 13:
- This week, I finalised the analysis on Tuesday after waiting a bit to have a stronger view of how our last post performed. I also created an analysis of the overall weeks we had posted just for an overall analysis of how to might have improved the Lavent's social media stats.
- Below was the analysis I had sent to the group.
- We also had a meeting on Thursday (29/06/2023) to allocate tasks for our final slides.

FEEDBACK
Week 04:
- Ask the brand their goals that they would like to achieve throughtout the 7-8 weeks. Goals can be either like more reach, followers, etc, perhaps more sales. That will then drive the content. Good job that we did quite a bit here, good start. Ask that first.
- Dont need to do much analysis, instead focus on (based on the objective) what kind of content that will needed to be churned out. The 3 posts 1 video is a guideline. It can change according to what the brand needs.
- Not sure how much study has been done on similar brands, but ensure that study has been done
- Ask about the creative freedom that we have, is there a specific design guideline?
- Can also focus on community based posts, (focus on word of mouth, might want to do that, i use thism my skin is this or that. Some videos can just act) Try to ask products from them for shooting & posts.
- Dont have much issue with content planning.
- Number of post a week should be 3 minimum.
- Look @ trends also, trend can be platform trend or specific trend.
Week 06:
- Future posts, put the brand's logo so that people can't steal
- Look for the placement of logo and has to be consistent throughout all the posts
- For ade's posts, mr asrizals not sure abt putting the dash, what can be improved is type play (a good example to use is magazine spread, type play not rlly infographic. if not it will become very muted. background colours can be different. steps also can be done better ith just number. even in carousels, there shld be logo throughout.) (since it's multi-points its better g
- Make use of the space, due to the small screens we view it on.
- He likes jacklyn's colour usage, but we should all agree on the logo placement as stated earlier
- He's looking to cut down the weeks to 6 for reviewing (week 12) but he said our group can keep going for 7 weeks.
- He also said that the progression is good, esp since we alrd posting
- He said not to delete any ideas, but just keep even if dont use for recording
Week 09:
- Think of backup content in case of slowness from Lavent
- For influencers, look at senior, Aryna Chan
Week 10:
- Caption for Zalora post, might want to add that link to Zalora in bio, just to inform ppl that there is a link to Zalora in bio. Either that, or can be in photo.
- For Aryna, we would need to plan the time and date. We can use the photo studio, but would have to ask Mr Martin, keys to the photo studio can be passed to us, but just need to plan and let Aryna know. We should plan by today so that we know. Mr Asrizal will be in campus on the 18th."
Week 11:
- For video, might want to do a little colour correction as its shot in the white light, so colour correct it to make it a bit warmer as its too white currently. Looks like it isn't edited currently.
- For Sunday, you might want to do a post for Father's Day. For the current Sunday planned post, can include the photo of the products but then showcase the greetings.
REFLECTION
Experience
Overall, I would say this class has been very interesting and insightful. I was a bit nervous at first when Mr Asrizal stated all of our projects for this class would be group based. However, this was a great experience to learn how to work in a group for long periods of time. I also got to experience how designs can truly become better when there's a group who are always available to give their honest feedback and suggestions for improvement. I truly believe that my work for this class would not have been as satisfying to complete if it weren't for my group mates who I knew I could count on to give me their opinions on my work to make it better.
Observations
During this semester, I was able to really observe how other people would approach certain designs to fit a brand's image. There were a lot of times where I got amazed at my group mates work because I would have never thought of doing a certain technique that they did. I also observed how organised we became when we used documents like the Content Calendar to plan our work, which definitely kept us accountable and in check with our progress.
Findings
During this class, I learnt about social media through analytics. There were many things I never expected when it came to data, and how it affects a single brand deeply. I was shocked with how deep analytics got, but always tried to understand it to the best of my abilities, reading short articles when I got confused with certain terms. It was very insightful as I only ever looked at Instagram Analytics before this class (although, I hardly put any effort into understanding what it all meant), but now, I am able to look at analytics and have a better understanding of consumers and what they most probably like.
